Grrr....:mad::mad:
Rhikor is very angry.....So, I went and dropped off a Resume at some place today, and as I'm walking out I hear that whore of a girl in that laughing with her asshole co-worker about my resume, just reading through the whole thing, making fun of anything she can....thinks like "Oh, look at that, he's lived in 4 provinces, hahaha" as if thats so amusing....What the **** is wrong with these people? Firstly, a resume is supposed to be private, something you give them and they just hand to the manager without even glancing at...Who the hell do they think they are going through everyone's Resume? That bitch....so anyway, I heard her laughing and making comments about it, a stupid thing to do while I'm still in the store....I was about to let it go, but decided I might as well give her a peice of my mind....turned around walked up to her, said she was a stupid bitch, asked her who the hell she thought she was, grabbed the resume out of ehr hands, ripped it in half, told her should could bite me, threw it on the floor and left....I, of course, gave her the finger as I went out the door....she got what she deserved...I'll tell you, I have a good mind to go to her manager and raise hell...
Just by the look on her face, I knew that I had told her, I saw just how offended she was....she never even said a word back to me....I'll tell you, that look on her face was priceless...Anyway, there is my seething fury for the day...:devil:

Well, if I were you, I wouldn't try to get a job at any similar types of places or places in the vicinity of wherever that was now...

GoF, come on, I'm not stupid....I wouldn't want a job at that place if they paid $10/hour....to hell with them...

Maybe you should make your resume a bit better reading. There could have been many reasons for them laughing at it. :)

Screw you, my resume contains no humour.

Out of curiosity, did you state that you lived in four different places?
And I'm not aware of the precedent that only the manager sees the resume.

Well i was orginally trying to be contructive in what might be wrong with it, but your immituriy has shone through again. So i now join the rest and laugh at you. Good luck on finding a job which pays more than minimum wage, your gonna need it. :p

Up yours Molar :D
As for you, Slock, It did state in there that I've lived in 4 different provinces, I've got that in there to show I've got some broad cultural experience (within Canada, that is), something they like to hear if you're involved in customer service...
I'm not sure if there is acctualy a law about it being private, I'm no expert on labour laws, but it's just a general expectation....I mean a Resume does give details about you, it's an invasion of privacy when just anyone can look at it...

I'm gonna take your side on this Riker, but with a little comment
your problems aren't with PEOPLE, theyre with WOMEN
*waits for everyone to ponder what has been said here*

Well, every male has a major problem with women, but in this case she was laughing with a male, as in a person with a penis, about this....if it was two women, I would've made a comment about a certain female bodily function....that'd have been sweet...but alas, there was a male :(

Okay, a couple pointers;
A] Having lived in four different provinces is more or less irrelevant. It won't help you sell shoes, or whatever the hell it was.
B] In companies, employees are routinely asked to review an applicant's resume to see if they're suitable or not. Case in point : My dad sees all the resumes of all the people who apply for positions in the department he teaches at.
More over, the stuff in a resume is more or less general domain, and shouldn't contain any deeply private secrets.

Having lived in 4 different provinces is more than relavent..if you were in charge of Human Resources at, say Zellers, and you were hiring someone that'd have alot of customer interaction, would you perfer to hire someone thats lived isolated in, lets say Flin Flon, Manitoba their entire life, or would you like to hire someone who's lived in nearly half the provinces of the country, who's lived in some radicly different cultures (french Canada as compared to english Canada), who's been in both small towns and big cities, and who is bilingual...who would you hire? My point is, if you've lived in nearly half the provinces of the country, you've seen many different types of people, lived in all kinds of cultures, and thus would be better suited for a job where you interact with customers, as compared to someone who's lived in Flin Flon his whole life...
I could understand an employee flipping through a resume quickly to decide whether to give it to the manager, put it in the filing cabinit or just throw it out entirely, but that does not include analyising it in the detail they were, not for the benifit of the manager, but simply to have something to laugh at...it does not include laughing at something that isn't even funny...
You see, I've learned something in my travels, I've learned that it's best to live somewhere where there's nothing special around....the islanders on PEI, they thought they had this big elite club, and if you weren't born there you're not an islander, you're an outast...I was acctualy told I'm not an islander by them once, to which I thanked them for what I took as a compliment...it's the same with these Niagara Falls people...they think cos they live near that god damn waterfall that they're in some special elite club....this city is a dump, and everyone here is on some sort of drug....nothing special about it to me...this is why I perfer the irrelavent, inconsequential suberbs of major cities :) Kinda like Waterloo, just on the lake and closer to Toronto....no offense intended, of course :)

There's a difference between being bilingual, and having lived in four different provinces. Moreover, it is quite possible for people to have people skills despite having lived in one place all their life. Now, if you said you lived in multiple countries, and were applying to a job where multicultural experience would be directly useful, IE immigration, or foreign affairs, that would be different.

Riker, get this through your head:
NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE PLACES YOUVE LIVED
period
*Edit* Muffin, get it through you're head, you're borderlining a flame right there. If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything. Even if you do have something constructive to say, Watch you're tounge when you say it */Edit*

Well, dunno if I'd be that harsh, but when it comes to getting a job at your average workplace-that-hires-16-year-olds, he's probably right.

Slock, I'm speaking of broad cultural experience within the country here, and yes I think an employer does care. In the few interviews I've been to, they've always commented on the different places I've lived in a nice sort of context....broad cultural experience could not be more important than in an area where you're serving customers from god knows where...

I think the conversation that you speak of there is what is commonly referred to as 'small talk'.
Molar The Tyrant

Slock is right.
Unless you have participated in community projects in every place and mixed in culture properly getting hard experience from it, it is irrelevent how many places you have lived.
Gypsies live in dozens of different places, yet you don't see them being diverse in thier cultural experience or knowledge..

now that others have agreed with me, I'll say it again
besides, you're gonna punish me for flaming in the flame board?? Besides, this is not a personal attack, just a mere statement of fact that you refuse to acknoweldge... you talk about saying something constructive... on this board??? Gimme a break!

If I wanted to punish you, I'd have either deleted your post entirely, or edited it to make you look stupid, not just to add a warning. What you said is not contructive, if you want to post useless crap, post it in the useless forum. What Slock said, that was constructive.
I'm speaking of jobs where you interact with customers, people, not burger flippers...

Hmm, Apostle said it best, I think.
Jazz: I gotta hit the hay... its runnning loose in the barn yard again. says:
I'm in retail, I'm trailer trash that's moved around my whole life, I've lived in four provinces in the same country, with the same culture, please hire me
Andy says:
you suck, **** off
Vulgar, but I think he gets the point across... *walks away, chuckling*

I don't know what's more impressive: Your superb cultural diversity, or your incredible mind. After all, you said you were a genius, breezing through the math program at your public school.
So you have a mind and people skills.

Alright guys, the thread is getting on the fringe of being out of control. I'm closing it...... If you want to start a thread on Riker's behavior, be my guest. But please re-read the rules of the Flame Board before you do.
